Tabernacle Baptist Church was founded on September 10, 1910. The first building was built and dedicated in February of 1914. As the church grew new property was needed to handle the many ministries and the current property on Academy and Holmes was purchased in 1955. A new church building was constructed and dedicated on October 5th, 1958.

The ministries of Tabernacle continued to expand, reaching the surrounding cities. East Park Community Church (now Hyde Park Baptist Church) was the first of two church plants started from TBC. In 1966 a group from TBC began to hold services as a church in Hyde Park. A second church, Fellowship Baptist of Highland, was begun in 1969.

Additional classes, offices and a fellowship hall were added through the years and a school was begun at Tabernacle in 1974 (Tabernacle Christian Academy) quickly filling all available space. God’s blessing was on the ministry and this led to further expansion with the addition of a new 3500 square-foot wing of classrooms in 2002.

We continue to see God’s hand of blessing. As so much is changing around us, our goal to reach out to those in our world with the love of God is still the same! We love God and we love people. We believe He has the answers to life’s questions and He is the answer for those who are hurting and lost.
